Tea Cobra Logo
For this project, we were asked to come up with the name of a restaurant, coffee, or tea shop and create a logo for it. Being a tea lover, I decided to go with a tea shop and used a name generator to play around with some ideas. I finally landed on Tea Cobra as I felt it had a lot of avenues to go down when designing both a logotype and a logomark. The logo and type are all hand-drawn and were designed to apply to both marketing and merchandise materials.
Iteration
Since I only started the project with the name "tea cobra", I spent a lot of my iteration time sketching. I first did thirty ideas where the name was the main element of the logo, then fifteen more of just character representations. I then got feedback from multiple other designers in my classes before narrowing it down to my final idea. I then rendered the final drawing and typed it before recreating it in illustrator. I felt a more organic shape and typeface (making both pieces freehand) best incapsulated the brand image I was going for with a tea shop.
I then took the logo and applied it to mutable color scenarios to see which worked the best for the design as well as ensure it could be used for both color and black-and-white designs. It's important to ensure a logo has diversity and simplicity in its design and application when presenting it to a client. After landing on my final color palette (the browns and golds as it references the color of brewed tea and got the best repose from others during my reviewing process), I applied it to merchandise and signage to show off its multiple applications.
